Renovation, still going...

But we should start seeing the end soon. The latest buzz is that we'll be moving the front door to make enough room for the staircase. Not especially a bad thing, except that the room where the new door will come, the Sunroom, is just where we had piled up all the furniture from the living room. So, last night, we migrated most of what was there to... our bedroom. It's really starting to look like a souk, or a cramped chinese appartment, with stuffs everywhere, including all of the cats gears, for the poor kitties confined there during the day as well... But we're really looking forward to the result. Instead of the front door we should soon have a big window, a welcome addition to a living room we always felt too dark.

And while Michael was busy working on the electrical for yet another weekend, I started sewing the Halloween costumes for the kids. On the last picture, you can get a glimpse of the tiny workspace I rescued from the construction. By swindling the chair, I can just slide in front of the machine, with my head in the lamp shade...

Important things to do

I offered my help to Anastasia's daycare to decorate the class for a contest. I was asked to design... a giraffe... Could not have been better... But a ten feet tall giraffe, and pretty skinny so it would fit on the pillar and leave enough room for its friends the Sheep...

Pkolino

I found a cute compact desk for Anastasia, naively hoping to get back some of the space on my own desk (she is really starting to need a lot of space with all of her crayons and papers). The thing arrived by the post last night. I expected that, as soon as the desk would be up, Anastasia would rush to fetch all of her stuffs, but the kids decided to play... restaurant... Very elaborate menu with a choice of shrimp soup, hamburger and pancakes with fruit...

BTW, the desk comes from Pkolino, and even though it's rather small, both kids can fit behind it (a bit tightly, though)...

Long commutes...

What could possibly be done with a big scarf in a car? Play airplane, of course... Once the seat belts fastened, we lay the blanket nicely for the long nap, just like on the plane, with a snack on the side. And since the inside of the beetle-plane is rather cosy, it's very convenient to tell the "driver of the plane" to go faster or pick up toys fallen on the floor. But that makes for pretty long commutes. Apparently, we flew to South America to go to daycare, and came back home to North America via Europe. Happy to finally be home...

The picture is pretty dark, and seriously lacks clouds. We were still in take-off mode, in the underground garage at work...

Renovation, the next step...

The beams are gone. It will save us from fetching a ladder late at night to go rescue Mojo the cat. The living room now looks more like a movie set than a living quarter. We tried to make ourselves more comfortable for the weekend by pulling a couch and a table from the "storage" area. But we won't beat the rather contemporary frumpy/rundown look for a while.

I did find an adorable cottage for the kids, made of recycle cardboard. We're trying to make up for the tightness of their space since most of their play area is off-limit during the renovation. Much loved, that cottage. Mojo was the first to visit, before the kids moved in with all of their stuffs...

Tiny dogs

Something cool to do at work when the computers are just too slow... Each little dog is about 1.5 inch tall...
