Gadget

Michael splurged and bought the latest gadget Mac: an iPad (I will get to it soon). Following a suggestion from del4yo, he acquired a few apps for the kids. The public is quite excited...

And in case you were wandering, the iPad can do a few more things other than make hamster talk...

Yummy

Kyan and I went to a birthday party for one of his friends Saturday morning. The theme was "Pirates", and this time, there weren't anybody to make balloons animals. But, someone had the fabulous idea to bring the balloons and a pump, then it was up to us to make something out of it. I'll spare you the results.

One of the highlights of the party was the cake, made of cupcakes all gooey with sweet cream on top. Of course, all the kids wanted the ones with the least natural colors possible: royal blue, bubblegum pink or apple green. It looks so good on their faces...

To make up for the explosion of food coloring, we went back to something more natural the next day: for snack, apricot and cranberry bread... Yummy...

Flowers...

For Mother's Day, I got flowers. Very special flowers: one beautiful paper flower, hand painted by Anastasia, and real flowers in a cup from Kyan. When I asked Kyan what kind of flowers they were, he said they were "mischievous flowers". Can't wait to see them bloom!!! He had also prepared a little card where he had written down a few things specific to his mom. Quite surprising answers: my mummy is at least 10 years old (isn't that sweet...), she like to go potty (euhhh...), to walk around a little to go get cake, and she likes carrots and tomatoes... Now you know...

"Inca" prints

Well, "Inca" meant in a very loose sense, but I needed something short and descriptive for my latest print tests, the match to the asian dolls print for Kyan: little guys from South America. And since almost everywhere in the world men give up their traditional attires much sooner than women do, I had a bit of a hard time finding enough interesting models. I completed with a llama.

The pieces are already cut to make sweaters. The orange print with the squared squiggly thing, which I'm quite happy with, will probably end up in a little pair of pants. More to come...

Books...

Kyan's big thing right now is to make books. We start by pasting a few sheets of paper together, possibly with some cute tape (japanese style), and then Kyan fills up the pages. So far, it's been mostly with stickers, but given how many he's using, I'm trying to steer him toward cuttings and collages. He seems to be getting along great with his scissors, and with at least one book a day, it will limit the costs on stickers... But his little books are super-cute, he brings them to daycare to show his friends.

More pink...

New sweater for Kyan, with a few dabs of pink, but mostly with dogs and cats. Kyan loves it...
