Eskimos...

First print from my sketches done while in Canada (and no, even in Canada, I didn't meet any Eskimos, it has nothing to do with it...). Soon to come on super soft hats, sweaters and fleece scarves...

End of Summer

Long, quiet weekend to celebrate the end of Summer (Labor Day). Kyan, Anastasia and I finally got a chance to enjoy the summer heat we've been missing all season in the area (Michael is in Europe for a while). Splish splosh at the pool, quiet time in the garden, visit from friends, naps... Ahhhh....

Confusion in the concept...

The other night, I heard some confusing commotion coming from the living room: Anastasia was singing "Happy Birthday...", while Kyan was screaming after her. Turned out, Kyan had built a nice fire truck with flames on top, and, I guess, Anastasia interpreted the vehicle as some birthday related item. It was quite difficult not to laugh, which only made Kyan more upset. In his fury, he even slapped Anastasia with a Lego shovel (sized for a tiny Lego character...), but I suspect that deep inside, he was laughing too...

Here's the thing: fire engine or birthday cake?

Birthday at Coyote Point

Didn't see any coyotes, but there were a couple of friendly dragons, a castle and some swing sets. And a fabulous cake in the hape of a digger for Tadhg's birthday...

Under construction...

Construction in the house finally started last week. Stage one should be done sometime next week. Renovations are moving at a very decent pace. I suspect Anastasia's crew, met in the kitchen last night, to have something to do with it. The kitchen already has a nice, working, french door to the garden, and the nice hole in the ceiling should welcome a lovely skylight today.

We can always retreat to the swimming pool on the deck, which is mostly enjoyed by the contractor's dog lately. When I told Kyan that I would rather go to the pool at the university since, at least, I can fit in it comfortably, he told me I just had to say "Criss-cross applesauce", and I would be the right size for the kiddie pool. Hard to fight such argument...

The hedgehog and the fox

I saw the patterns for these two adorable creatures on a book, and made them my own way, with whatever fabrics I had laying around in my many boxes (yes, it's quite impressive what we can find in there). I only bought a tiny bit of rousset fleece for Kyan's fox, who still preferred the leftover fleece in bubblegum pink.
Quickly made, thanks to Anastasia's precious help. And yes, the fox may appear a bit naked, but he soon should get a pair of stylish flowery knickers...

Yummy...

Michael is very much into Jamie Oliver's cooking and philosophy these days. Last night, we had chicken wrapped up in parmesan and prociutto, with rice, broccoli, and a fancy side thing made of spinach leaves with pecan, pine nuts and dried cranberries. I leave you admire the dessert (watermelon and cheddar cheese). It was all delicious.
