All is well

Back after a silent few weeks on the blog. And yes, all is well, just very busy.

First, there was Thanksgiving. Initially, Kyan thought that Thanksgiving, it's when we go scuba-diving. Not sure where the link is, but he now knows that it's a time to be grateful.

And, like every year, the snow was in town, brought on trucks. It lasted only a few hours, until the rain washed most of it away during the night. We still go to enjoy it for a brief moment, under the stars. Kyan loved it but was a bit frustrated that he didn't get to build a snowman on the edge of the slope. He had already planned to bring a carrot for the nose.

Snow gear

For Christmas, we went to the snow, the real one, in Tahoe. One of the novelty for the children was all the equipment which come with the snow. Kyan got used to it pretty quickly, but Anastasia, despite a stylish Winter jacket (thank you Grand-Maman), beached herself on the carpet a few times, and couldn't get back on her feet without help. For a little frog used to jumping on beds, it's quite frustrating...

Californian snow

Yes, snow does happen here too, although not quite like in Canada or Switzerland. Here, it comes by the road, on a truck... It's a tradition in the little town we live in, for Thanksgiving. The small steep street leading to the mission gets closed, the snow gets dumped on gigantic plastics surrounded by straw bales, and we can luge. Well, the bottom of the slope quickly feels more like canoeing than sliding, but it's easier than a three hour drive for the luge. (There's indeed lots of snow in California, but in the Eastern part, in the Sierra; by the ocean, it happens once in a while, for a few hours).
